Varanasi, May 20 (Hindustan Times). Uttar Pradesh Minister of State for Sports (Independent Charge) Girish Chandra Yadav and Additional Chief Secretary Sports Navneet Sehgal reviewed the ongoing preparations here under the Khelo India University Games on Saturday. A review meeting was also held at Circuit House regarding the preparations for the wrestling competition from 26 to 29 May and Yogasana competition from 01 to 03 June.
Instructing the officials, Minister Girish Chandra Yadav said that all the officials should discharge their respective responsibilities with full diligence under Khelo India University Games. He also directed the district administration to set up a control room. Instructing the police officer to ensure round-the-clock security, the minister said that there should be no lapse anywhere. Giving directions, he said that the drivers of vehicles traveling during the program must have complete knowledge of the local places. Directing the Chief Medical Officer, he said that the presence of doctors with life-saving medicines at the site should be ensured at all costs. The minister emphasized that NADA should press the prescription and make it available to the athletes when needed. Proper provision of drinking water should be ensured in and around the event venue keeping in view the scorching heat. The Municipal Officer was instructed to ensure proper arrangements for sanitation. Emphasizing on providing quality food to the players, he directed the District Supply Officer and Food Safety Officer to ensure it at all costs.
Additional Chief Secretary Sports Navneet Sehgal directed officials of the tourism department to verify the hotels taken for the players as per security measures. Players coming from outside should not face any kind of problem. Adequate number of volunteers should be posted at stations etc. A team of doctors should be available at the venue and hotel and medical emergency numbers should be available in all hotel rooms. Arrangements should also be made to reserve some beds in nearby hospitals. Along with the medical team, NCC people were also directed to put on duty. Guests coming to Kashi were instructed to keep the ODOP catalog and Angavastram in the bag provided by the Tourism Department. He directed the concerned officer to ensure availability of water along with electricity at the site.
After the review meeting, Minister Girish Chandra Yadav and Additional Chief Secretary Navneet Sehgal and District Magistrate S. Rajalingam conducted a spot inspection of the program and venue at BHU.
