New Delhi, 20 May (Hindustan Times). The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has called a Special General Meeting (SGM) in Ahmedabad on May 27 and it is expected that an important announcement could be made after the meeting.

One of the five points on the SGM agenda is “constitution of a working group for the ICC World Cup 2023” and there is talk that the venues for the October-November championship could be made public on that day. The members of the organizing committee may also be announced.

The dates of the World Cup have not been announced yet but there are speculations that the tournament will begin on October 5 and end on November 19 with 12 venues across the country. As is well known, Ahmedabad will host the final.

Meanwhile, the BCCI will announce the formation of a committee for the Women’s Premier League (WPL). The first edition of WPL was organized by the Governing Council of IPL in March. Now the BCCI may set up a separate body for the women’s league, which has received a positive response from both the stakeholders (mainly owners and broadcasters) and the public alike.

Meanwhile, it has been learned that the team members for the World Test Championship (WTC) final will leave for England in three batches.

The first batch will take off on May 23, soon after the conclusion of the league stage of the IPL. The second batch will leave after the first two play-off matches on May 23 and 24 and finally the last batch will leave on May 30 after the final on May 28. BCCI is planning to organize a practice match for the team. The WTC final against Australia will be played at The Oval from June 7 to 12.
