Supreme Court hits center on Cheetah’s death, consider quitting politics and going to Rajasthan

The Supreme Court yesterday expressed grave concern over the death of three leopards brought from South Africa and Namibia in less than two months in Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park and asked the Center to keep politics aside and shift them to Rajasthan. A two-judge bench told the Center that it appears from expert reports and articles that KNP does not have enough space for a large number of leopards and the Center may consider shifting them to other sanctuaries.

The Supreme Court has targeted the Centre

The death of three leopards in two months is a matter of grave concern, the bench said. It seems that Kuno does not have enough space to house these leopards. He challenged these leopards to find a suitable place in Rajasthan. Just because Rajasthan is ruled by an opposition party doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take it into account.

Additional Solicitor General’s reply on behalf of the Centre

Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati, appearing for the Centre, said they are looking into all possible aspects, including shifting to other sanctuaries.
