Vat Savitri fast starts 3 days before
According to mythological belief, Goddess Savitri fasted continuously for 3 days to save the life of her husband Satyavan. This is also a reason why at some places Vat Savitri Vrat is started 3 days before the full moon or new moon of Jyestha month. This fast starts from Trayodashi date. And on the new moon day, the banyan tree is worshiped by circumambulating it.

Two bamboo baskets, idols of Savitri and Satyavan, bamboo fan, raw yarn, earthen pot filled with water, incense sticks, Gangajal, incense sticks, 1.25 meter cloth, fruits, seven types of grains, flowers, earthen lamp, rice, Frankincense, vermilion, betel nut, coconut, banyan tree, soaked pulses, sweets, homemade sweets.
