Signs of strength from the global market for the second consecutive day, Asian markets also rise

New Delhi, May 19 (Hindustan Times). Strong signals are being received from the global market for the second consecutive day today due to the expectation of a debt ceiling deal in the US. US markets closed with gains during the last trading session. Similarly, there was a bullish atmosphere in the European market as well. Asian markets are also generally up today. Apart from India, only 2 out of 9 markets in Asia are trading in the red mark with the index declining. All the remaining 7 indices remain in the green with gains.

Wall Street continued to be upbeat during the last trading session, due to which all the three indices were able to close on a strong note. The Dow Jones closed at 35,535.91, up 115.14 points, or 0.34 percent. Similarly, the S&P 500 index ended the previous session trading at 4,198.05 points, up 0.94 percent. Apart from this, the Nasdaq closed at a level of 12,688.84 points with a gain of 188.27 points, or 1.51 percent.

European markets also managed to close up to 1.31 per cent higher in the previous trading session. The FTSE index closed at 7,742.30 points, up 0.25 percent. Similarly, the CAC index ended the previous session’s trade at 7,446.89 points, up by 0.64 per cent. Apart from this, the DAX index strengthened by 212.06 points i.e. 1.31 percent and closed at the level of 16,163.36 points.

Asian markets also have a generally firm trend today. SGX Nifty is trading at a level of 18,182.50 points with a gain of 0.11 percent. Similarly, the Nikkei index has reached the level of 30,791.68 points with an increase of 217.75 points i.e. 0.71 percent. The Straits Times Index is trading at a level of 3,196 points, up 0.42 percent, while the Taiwan Weighted Index is trading at a level of 16,166.17 points with a strength of 0.40 percent. Apart from this, the Kospi index gained 0.75 percent to 2,534.33 points, the Jakarta Composite index gained 0.53 percent to 6,698.63 points and the Shanghai Composite index gained 0.13 percent to 3,301.59 points.

On the other hand, the Hang Seng index is trading at the level of 19,531.23 points with a decline of 196.02 points i.e. 0.99 percent. Apart from this, the SET Composite Index has fallen 0.78 percent to the level of 1,514.85 points in the business so far.
