Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star batsman Virat Kohli scored a brilliant century against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Thursday, ending a four-year long wait in the Indian Premier League (IPL). This is his sixth century in IPL. The star batsman hit his first IPL century since April 2019.
This was Kohli’s first century in IPL 2023; He has also equaled former teammate Chris Gayle’s (6) record for most hundreds in league history. Kohli now holds the joint-highest number of centuries in the history of the league with Chris Gayle (6).
RCB opener Kohli was in fine form but was criticized for his slow start, however, on Thursday night, he gave a befitting reply to his critics by reaching his hundred in 62 balls.
In the 18th over of the match, Kohli was dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar after scoring 100 runs.
Talking about the match, Sunrisers Hyderabad, batting first in this match, scored 186 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs thanks to a brilliant 104-run century by wicket-keeper batsman Henrik Kassanen.
In response, RCB won the match by 8 wickets by scoring 187 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 19.2 overs thanks to a century by Virat Kohli (100) and a half-century by captain Faf du Plessis (71).
