Prayagraj, May 18 (Hindustan). The Allahabad High Court will now hear a petition filed against the appointment of the vice-chancellor of Allahabad University on July 12. Time was sought today to file a detailed reply in the case on behalf of the university chancellor.

On the request of the vice chancellor’s advocate, the court adjourned the hearing of the case and fixed July 12 for the next hearing. A division bench of Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra and Justice Vinod Diwakar passed the order today on a petition filed by petitioner Naveen Prakash Nautiyal challenging the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor. Senior Supreme Court advocate Prashant Bhushan argued on behalf of the petitioner through video conferencing. The petition has challenged the appointment of the vice-chancellor on various grounds and stated that he is not qualified to hold the post.

It may be noted that earlier this case was heard by the bench of the former Chief Justice of the High Court and the decision was also reserved. But as the decision was not reached, the case was filed in the court for the hearing of this case again today.
