Under political pressure in Himachal, Sukhu government strict on transfer of officials, order issued

Shimla, May 18 (Hindustan Times). In Himachal Pradesh, the Sukhu government has taken a major step to act on transfers of officials on the recommendation of politicians. Sukhu government has issued notifications regarding transfers and posting of officers of IAS, HAS and HPS cadre. It has been clarified that if the officers of the said cadre create pressure regarding transfers and postings, disciplinary action will be taken against them. Officers have to join only as per the order issued by the government.

In the instructions issued by the state government on Thursday, it has been mentioned that orders of transfer and posting of IAS, HAS and HPS officers are made at regular intervals in public interest. Such cases have come to the notice of the personnel department that some IAS, HAS and HPS officers bring political pressure for the purpose of their transfer and posting. This is a violation of rules and unbecoming of a government servant. The matter was taken seriously by the government, as it affected the functioning of the concerned department. In such a situation, officers of the said cadre should refrain from creating political pressure for transfers and postings and perform their duties under the transfer orders issued by the Government. Violation of these instructions will result in disciplinary action.

Let it be known that these decisions of the Sukhu government will reduce the interference of politicians in transfers. In fact, the matter of transfer of some officers/employees of various categories had reached the High Court for some time now. In most of the cases, the court also stayed the transfers on the recommendation of politicians.
