Ratanlal Kataria, BJP MP from Ambala passed away, breathed his last in Chandigarh

BJP MP from Ambala Ratanlal Kataria has passed away after prolonged illness. He breathed his last at PGI Chandigarh this morning (May 18). Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar met him at the hospital yesterday, after his death today, a wave of mourning has swept through his supporters in the state.

 

 

Ratan Lal Kataria was the third leader to win the 2019 Lok Sabha elections

The CM of Haryana has expressed grief over his death by tweeting. I am deeply saddened by the passing away of Shri Ratanlal Kataria, former Union Minister of State and MP from Ambala. He always raised his voice in Parliament for the welfare of the society and the progress of the people of Haryana. His departure is an irreparable loss to politics. May God rest the departed soul in His holy feet and give strength to the family in this difficult time.

In 2014, the winning record was set

Ratan Lal Kataria was the third leader to win the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Ratanlal Kataria’s strength was in the form of an experienced and relevant face and this was the reason why the BJP fielded its oldest but strongest face from the Ambala Lok Sabha reserved seat. However, he lost two consecutive elections to Rajya Sabha MP Kumari Selja from the same seat and set a winning record in 2014.

He has been an MP from the same seat in 1999 as well. In 2014, he defeated Congress candidate Rajkumar Valmiki. In 2019, he avenged his old defeat by defeating Kumari Selja. His career in active politics in Haryana began in the 1980s.
