Defense Partnership: India-US discuss possibilities of industrial cooperation, Defense Secretary highlights

Defense Partnership: Defense Secretary Girdhar Arman and US Under Secretary for Policy Colin Kahl co-chaired the 17th meeting of the India-US Defense Policy Group in Washington DC on 17 May.

The two sides reviewed the progress made in advancing defense industrial cooperation and managing the India-US critical defense partnership. The Defense Ministry said the two countries have discussed the implementation of the Basic Defense Agreement on military-to-military cooperation.

Besides, important initiatives such as Indo-US military exercises and ongoing and future cooperative activities in the Indian Ocean region were also discussed. According to the Defense Ministry, technical discretion, long-term follow-up and development were also discussed.

Both countries emphasized ways and means to enhance defense industrial cooperation, including improving supply chain security. According to a statement issued by the Defense Ministry, the meeting also discussed potential areas and projects to enhance co-development and co-production in India.
