Karnataka CM News: Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and State President DK Shivakumar met Rahul Gandhi separately on Wednesday amid the ongoing debate over the next CM of Karnataka. According to sources, DK Shivakumar has been offered the post of Deputy Chief Minister along with six portfolios. Sources said that no decision has been taken on the offer yet, but DK is likely to accept the offer.
Rahul Gandhi and the Congress leadership have proposed this to DK. The two leaders met Rahul Gandhi at 10 Janpath, the residence of Congress Parliamentary Party chief Sonia Gandhi. On the other hand, Siddaramaiah discussed with Rahul Gandhi for almost half an hour, while Shivakumar spoke to him for an hour. After meeting Rahul Gandhi, Shivkumar reached the house of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.
Siddaramaiah’s name almost final
According to sources, Siddaramaiah’s name has been finalized for the post of CM. The swearing-in ceremony is likely to be held on Saturday or Sunday instead of tomorrow. In fact, Congress may invite opposition leaders to Siddaramaiah’s swearing-in ceremony to give a big message of Karnataka victory and show opposition unity. The Gandhi family and the chief ministers of Congress-ruled states will also participate in this ceremony.
Oath ceremony on Saturday or Sunday
However, if the oath will be taken amid DK Shivakumar’s displeasure, the program can be held tomorrow itself. Earlier on Tuesday too, there was vigorous churning in the Congress regarding the election of the post of Chief Minister. Party president Mallikarjun Kharge first discussed with Rahul Gandhi and then met Siddaramaiah and DK Sivakumar separately. Khadge also held a discussion with the three party observers on Monday. The inspectors also submitted a report to the legislators based on their opinion.
