The CBI has taken a major action in the case of the alleged insurance scam. Apart from Satpal Malik, the then aide of the former Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, 8 other places in Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir were raided and action was taken against them. It also includes Sunak Bali, the then Press Secretary to the Governor.
An official connected with the case said that the CBI had launched a search operation at the residence of the former governor’s then aide and other places this morning. The agency questioned Malik on April 28 and the action is being taken today. The agency also recorded Malik’s statement in October last year.
It may be noted that Malik had alleged corruption in the group medical insurance scheme and public works contracts. CBI has registered two FIRs in this matter. Satpal has reacted to the CBI action at Press Secretary Sunak Bali’s house. Calling it unfortunate, he said that the CBI is harassing the prosecutor in this case.
Let us tell you that earlier the CBI team reached the house of former Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Satpal Malik to get more information in the alleged corruption case of Rs 60 crore. After this, he was asked to explain on corruption charges.
The case relates to a health insurance scheme that was allegedly asked to be extended. Malik claimed that he was offered bribe to clear files during his tenure as Governor of Jammu and Kashmir between 23 August 2018 and 30 October 2019.
