Swachhta Sankalp Maha Abhiyan: 28 tonnes of water hyacinth extracted from Kunda river on 11th day by machine and labor

Khargone, May 17 (Hindustan Times). Under the Chief Minister’s Urban Cleanliness Sankalp Mahabhiyan, under the guidance of Collector Shivraj Singh Verma, the cleaning of the Kunda river, which started on May 7, continued uninterrupted on Wednesday. The campaign, which entered the 11th day on Wednesday, has been different in many ways. The Kunda Abhiyan was the first time machines were widely used for cleaning along with labour.

In the meantime, Labor Department and Mines Department had donated labour. Apart from this, for the first time in this campaign, a large number of organizations entered the river for river cleaning. Apart from the staff of the department, about 100 people, crusher machinery, sand contractors and sand traders have donated their labour.

Apart from this, 8 JCBs, 7 tractors and 6 dumpers also entered the river. Even after 9 pm, five JCBs continued to work till evening in the dredging operation. Savan Chauhan, a leading mineral officer of the Sand Traders Association, said they are working on a separate action plan with the union, which could be implemented soon. Staff of Shramdan, Gotu Gaur, Ishwar Mali, Hemant Gupta, Imran Bhutto, Deepak Upadhyay and many contractors also participated.

10.56 tonnes of water hyacinth extracted in 10 days, 28 tonnes on 11th day

The success of the cleaning operation on the 11th day of Kunda’s cleanliness campaign can also be gauged from the fact that 28 tonnes of water hyacinth and 3 tonnes of dry waste were removed on Wednesday. Giving information, Municipal Health Officer Prakash Chitte said that from May 7 to May 16, 10.46 tonnes of water hyacinth and wet waste and 0.909 tonnes of dry waste were removed. After the JCB landed in the river, the scene is being seen that it is being cleaned on a war footing. This will probably be the first time that such a large number of machines have been brought down for cleaning at once.
