Next Chief Minister of Karnataka: Despite winning 135 seats in Karnataka, the Congress is yet to announce the name of the Chief Minister of the state. The name of the Chief Minister is being discussed in the party for the last three days but no decision has been taken yet.
The names of Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar are in discussion for the post of Chief Minister. Shivakumar had given clear indications for the past few months that he wanted to become the chief minister of the state. However, the party high command has not yet taken any decision in this regard.
According to sources, a criminal case has been registered against DK Sivakumar, in which case his hopes may be dashed. A total of 19 cases have been registered against DK Sivakumar, some of which are being investigated by CBI, ED and Income Tax Department.
It may be noted that in 2017, the Income Tax Department raided DK Shivakumar’s place. The investigating agency said that Rs 8.5 crore has been seized from them. The money was found during raids at four locations in Delhi, which were directly related to DK Shivakumar.
The Income Tax Department also received information about the alleged purchase of three flats by DK Shivakumar in Safdarjung, New Delhi. The Income Tax department claimed that they have received information worth Rs 429 crore which has not been audited. The Income Tax Department has filed a charge sheet against Shivakumar. A charge sheet has also been filed against Hanumantaiah in this case.
Also, the Enforcement Directorate has registered a money laundering case against DK Shivakumar. ED claims they have unaccounted assets of Rs 200 crore. They say that DK Shivakumar has the details of 317 accounts in 20 banks, containing Rs 200 crores.
