Meerut A teacher and her husband were hacked to death in Shastrinagar under Nauchandi police station area. The double murder came to light when the deceased’s son called. After not picking up the phone, the son called the neighbor and sent him home, after which the murder came to know. Police reached the spot and started investigation.
Pramod Karanwal lived with his family near Gol Mandir in Shastrinagar under Nauchandi police station area. In the family, wife Mamta was a teacher in a BDS school. Elderly parents live on the ground floor of the house. While Pramod and Mamta lived on the first floor. Pramod was working in a factory in Sahibabad. Pramod’s son Aryan and daughter Kanishka work in Gurugram. On Monday night the couple slept in their room and the elderly parents downstairs. Aryan called his father on Tuesday morning. Without picking up the call, he called the neighbor and said that the parents are not picking up the phone, you should go and see if anyone is in trouble. On this the neighbor told the whole thing to Pramod’s parents. Everyone went upstairs and saw the dead bodies of the couple lying on the bed in the room.
The neighbor reported the double murder to the surrounding people and the police. After receiving the information, the police reached the spot and started investigation. Forensic team also reached the spot. According to the police, both have been killed by slitting their throats.
City Superintendent of Police Piyush Kumar reached the spot after learning about the double murder. During police interrogation, the elderly parents said that they did not see anyone coming and going in the house. There are two doors to enter the house. Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Meerut Zone Rajeev Sabharwal also reached the spot. The ADG has deployed several police teams to nab the killers. The police are scanning the footage from the CCTV cameras located nearby. The police sent the bodies for post-mortem.
