Poor quality drugs: 48 samples of drugs in the country have failed the standard test. These medicines also include medicines used in heart diseases. The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) inspection report includes 14 drugs manufactured in Uttarakhand. Apart from this, there are 13 medicines in Himachal Pradesh, 4 in Karnataka, 2-2 in Haryana, Maharashtra and Delhi and 1-1 in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Sikkim, Jammu and Puducherry. A total of 1497 drug samples were tested last month. Of these, 48 did not meet the criteria for medicine.

As per the CDSCO report, these medicines also contain medicines like Lycopene Mineral Syrup, which are widely used by the people. Apart from this, there are medicines like Vitamin C Injection, Folic Acid Injection, Albendazole, Kaushik Doc-500, Nicotinamide Injection, Amoxanol Plus and Alciflox. These medicines are used to correct vitamin deficiency, control high BP, prevent allergies, control acid and eliminate fungal infections. Among these medicines, the toothpaste of a renowned company has also failed. A large number of people use this toothpaste.

Medicines failing in the test have been issued notices to the pharma companies seeking answers. All drug inspectors have been ordered to investigate pharma companies. Medicines that fail in the test have also been asked to be withdrawn from the market. CDSCO tests samples of medicines of various pharma companies every few months. Tests were also done in November last year, in which about 50 medicines failed. Those drugs included antibiotics.

According to experts, on an average, 4 to 6 percent of drug samples are found to be of poor quality worldwide, but if it exceeds 6 percent, then concern can increase. According to medicine expert Dr. Ajay Kumar, many times this can happen due to change in weather and due to the entry of any harmful bacteria in the medicine stock or due to sampling error.

However, still the quality of the medicines should not be compromised. A large number of people use these medicines. Medicines for the treatment of high BP and heart are also included in the failed medicines. In such a situation, companies should properly check the stock of medicines. Only after this they should be launched in the market.
