Gumla, May 15 (Hindustan Times). As per pre-scheduled programme, on Monday, all the footpath vegetable vendors of Jashpur Road and Palkot Road were shifted to Durgabari Vending Market and Municipal Council Vending Market respectively. A total of 104 people have been placed in both the places. Out of which 89 people got stalls, while the remaining 15 people who were left in the waiting list after the lottery were arranged to sit respectfully by pitching tents in the vending zone itself.
A stall will be made available for them soon. City council administrator Sanjay Kumar said, “Not only do these shopkeepers have to face dust and pollution by sitting on the road, but sitting on the roadside under the open sky, any untoward incident can happen to them at any time.” The City Council is responsible for this. . However, initially all the vegetable shopkeepers were skeptical. But after several rounds of negotiations with him, all his doubts were cleared, he was assured that the Nagar Parishad was always with him in his ups and downs and whatever steps were being taken for his welfare would be taken. After this, on Monday, all the vegetable shopkeepers shifted to the vending zone.
Fruit market instead of chicken market: Arrangements have been made to accommodate vegetable sellers along with fruit sellers of Jashpur Road. The space where chickens and fishes used to sit has been vacated and made available to fruit vendors.
Displaced chicken sellers to sit in market shed: Sanjay Kumar said that the interest of all chicken traders displaced from bus stand premises and Tengra market is also being taken care of, no one’s livelihood will be affected. All of them were told that shops would be made available from the vacant shops in the market place. In this regard, he has also instructed Marketing Secretary Abhay Kumar to provide space on priority basis to those interested among these displaced chicken traders from available vacant shops by charging fixed fee.
