Lucknow Uttar Pradesh has registered its presence at the second position in the country with 1 crore 12 lakh 97,534 tap connections while taking the lead in providing the maximum number of tap connections to rural households in the country. Now UP is eyeing to reach the top.

Compared to other states, UP has the highest rural population of 2,65,93,949. However, the work of Jal Jeevan Mission’s Har Ghar Yojana is being completed rapidly here. UP is continuously achieving new achievements and has become an inspiration for other states. With 1 crore 11 lakh 22,327 tap connections, UP has also left Maharashtra at the second position in terms of providing tap connections. UP is completing a grand campaign to bring water to every household of over one crore 12 lakh rural families by providing more than 40,000 tap connections every day.

UP ranks first in the national ranking of providing tap connection to 50 percent households

In Jal Jeevan Mission’s national survey, ranking the states, UP has consistently topped the national rank for providing tap connection to 50 per cent rural households since the month of January. Many other big states lag behind UP. Talking about districts, Badaun, Sravasti, Lucknow, Kasganj, Kanpur Dehat and Sant Ravidas Nagar are among the national ranks to provide 50 percent tap connections by May 14, 2023. In the ranking of districts, Hardoi ranks first among the districts that provide tap connection to 25 percent of rural households. Aligarh is second.

In Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow and Kanpur Dehat have also joined the districts that have provided tap connections to more than 50 percent of rural households. Now more than 50 percent of rural households in total 32 districts of UP have reached clean drinking water from the tap. In the remaining 43 districts, the work of providing tap connections to rural households is going on at a fast pace.

State Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh says that the pace at which Jal Jeevan Mission’s Har Ghar Yojana is going on in UP is an inspiration for other states as well. Efforts are being made to speed up Har Ghar Jal Yojana to every rural family in the rural areas of every district of UP. I and every staff-officer in my department are determined to realize the dreams of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath with team spirit. The Minister congratulated Namami Gange and the entire team of Rural Water Supply Department for this achievement.
