Varanasi: A fire broke out in a flat of the Prime Minister’s residence located in Harhua Anoura village of Bara Gaon police station area on Monday due to a leaking gas cylinder during a house warming ceremony. In the accident, 10 members of the family were burnt while trying to save each other. Three of them are in critical condition. Burned people were rushed to the hospital.
Surendra Chauhan, a resident of Bhadohi Nai Bazar, has been allotted flat number 162 in block number B of Prime Minister’s residence in Anoura. On Monday, in the presence of family members and relatives, Surendra along with his wife Pooja Chauhan were performing house warming rituals. Women from family and relatives used to sing auspicious songs. The confectioner and his assistants were preparing to cook. Meanwhile, a fire broke out due to leakage in the gas cylinder in the afternoon. Surendra Chauhan, wife Pooja Chauhan, Sitara Devi, Jyoti, priest Manohar Pandey, a resident of Kalika Dham and his colleague, a confectioner, were burnt in the accident. Along with the worship, the household goods were also burnt. Neighbors started extinguishing the fire after hearing the screams. People cautiously put out the fire using fire equipment installed in nearby flats. As soon as the information was received, the in-charge of Baragaon police station, Harhua Chowki, reached the spot and rushed the burnt people to the hospital. Seeing the condition of the burnt people, they were brought to the Divisional Hospital at Kabirchaura. Sitara Devi, Golu, Pooja Chauhan are in critical condition among the burn victims.
