Ouagadougou, May 14 (His). At least 41 people have been killed in an attack by suspected Islamic extremists on a village in Burkina Faso. The provincial governor’s office gave this information. According to a report, 41 people were killed in the attack on Thursday evening in Yulou village of Mouhoun province.
Provincial governor Babo Pierre Basinga called the attack cowardly and barbaric. He said the attack took place at around 5 pm when people were working in their fields on the banks of the Mouhaun river. He said security action is being taken to counter the extremists. For this, he urged the people to be vigilant and cooperate with the security forces.
According to local sources, these attackers came on a motorcycle and were also carrying dangerous weapons. The attackers started firing indiscriminately.
Earlier on April 28, an army unit was attacked in Burkina Faso. In this, 33 soldiers lost their lives, while 12 were injured. Let us tell you, Burkina Faso is one of the West African countries where violent Islamic insurgency is going on. In the last eight years, the incidents of terrorism have increased and thousands of people have been killed. More than two million civilians have been displaced in this state of violence.
In fact, last year the army had staged two coups in the country. Now the army is threatening to take over the control of the country. Since 2012, almost incidents of violence are being witnessed in this area. The violence later spread to neighboring Burkina Faso and Niger, destabilizing the entire region.
