5610 girls missing from Maharashtra in last three months

Mumbai, May 14 (Hindustan Times). 5 thousand 610 girls have gone missing in Maharashtra in the last three months. State Women’s Commission Chairperson Rupali Chakankar has requested Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis to form a special SIT to investigate the matter thoroughly. Rupali Chakankar has written to the Chief of Police Missing Department giving detailed information about the disappearance of girls and women.

A few days ago, when the atmosphere in the country was heated over the film ‘The Kerala Story’, the shocking statistics of 2200 missing girls in the state in the month of March came to light. Also, 5610 girls have gone missing from Maharashtra in the last three months. Meanwhile, Mahila Ayog chairperson Rupali Chakankar has said that the rate of disappearance of girls and women is a matter of concern.

Rupali Chakankar told the media on Sunday that a shocking figure of 2200 missing girls has come to light in the state in the month of March. After this it has been found that 5610 girls have gone missing from Maharashtra in the last three months. He said the increasing number of disappearances of girls and women in the age group of 16 to 35 years from the state is a matter of concern.

Chakankar said the possibility of an international conspiracy related to human trafficking behind the disappearance of girls and women cannot be ruled out. Due to which the concern has increased. Due to the increasing number of missing girls and women, a hearing will be held before the Commission tomorrow on May 15 at 3 pm regarding the action taken by the administration and the police and the remedial plan. Along with this, an order has been issued to the police chief of the missing division to give a detailed report in this regard. Rupali Chakankar said that the home department should immediately form a special investigation team to conduct a thorough investigation into the disappearance of girls and women.
