Fatehabad, May 14 (Hindustan). In connection with the death of a married woman 22 days ago in Ramsara village of Bhattu area of the district, the deceased’s brother on Sunday accused his in-laws of murdering her. He says his sister’s in-laws first poisoned her to death and later dumped her body in a canal to make it look like suicide. In this matter, Bhattu Kalan police have registered a case of murder against 7 people including the deceased’s husband and started investigation on Saturday.
In the complaint given to the police in this regard, Kuldeep, a resident of Jhansal village in Hanumangarh district of Rajasthan, said that his sister Maya Devi was married to Omprakash, a resident of Ramsara, in 2008. She was being harassed since marriage. In July 2022, her sister’s 8-year-old daughter died, which her in-laws said was an accident but her sister believed her in-laws were responsible for her daughter’s death.
On 22 April 2023, he was informed over the phone about Maya Devi’s deteriorating health. When he reaches Ramsara village with his family, he learns that his sister has died long ago. His body had turned blue and foaming at the mouth. His sister’s in-laws were preparing for his last rites and took the body to the crematorium. When he asked the cause of death, he said that he had committed suicide by jumping into the canal. He was then told that he had died of a stomach ailment. Repeatedly changing the reason, he became suspicious. In this case, the police have now registered a case against Balwant, Sugna, Reshma, Omprakash, Shiv Kumar, Lichhama and Vikas and started investigation.
