Naval NCC cadets practice pulling boats in Gomti river

Lucknow, May 14 (Hindustan Times). Naval NCC cadets conducted an exercise on Navy’s whaler boat in Gomti River during the annual Nau Sainik camp on Sunday. Around 330 cadets from 14 institutes participated in this boat pulling campaign.

It is for the first time that junior cadets below 12 years have got the opportunity to do boat pulling on a naval boat. In this he showed immense vigor and enthusiasm. After the training session, the cadets participated in the Puneet Sagar Abhiyan, a nationwide campaign to clean rivers and beaches. The cadets also carried out extensive cleaning of Gomti river and river front using JCB and garbage vans in coordination with Navy boats and Lucknow Municipal Corporation.

The boat pulling session was led by Chief Naval Instructor Krishna Kishore Tiwari and Komal Singh. While the Puneet Sagar campaign was conducted by senior coaches like Mr. Dixit, Sandeep Pal and Satish etc. Captain Navendu Saxena, Commanding Officer of the Naval Unit said that even after the camp, such initiatives by the Naval Cadets will continue and special campaigns will be conducted throughout the year for a clean Gomti and a clean Lucknow.
