Jhansi, May 14 (Hindustan Times). Member of Parliament Anurag Sharma on Sunday inaugurated a shelter for the safe release of unwanted newborns near the main gate of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Medical College.
The MP appealed to the general public that if an unwanted child is born in a family for any reason, do not kill it or throw it here and there, leave it in this shelter without revealing its identity. He said you can rest assured that your identity will be kept secret and no legal action will be taken against you.
On this occasion, Dr. Akhand Pratap, Divisional Pracharak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, said that every unwanted newborn child will get the right to live through shelters and cradles. Along with this, the interested couple can complete their family by adopting these innocent children according to law. Due to which they will have an opportunity to grow up in a healthy, safe and happy environment with love and respect and with good upbringing these innocent people can become invaluable assets of the society and the nation.
Yoga Guru Devendra Agarwal, Founder Director of Life Saving Campaign Maheshashram Ma Bhagwati Vikas Sansthan, Udaipur, said that the child found in the shelter will be declared legally free for adoption by the District Child Welfare Committee as per law. The adoption of the child will be done by the Central Adoption Resource Authority. The child will then be adopted and rehabilitated by the District Court, where he will get a new life, a new name and a new identity.
Mayank Singh, Deputy Principal of the Medical College, while informing about the functioning of the shelter, said that the shelter is equipped with high-tech motion sensors, so that the bell will ring automatically after 2 in the labor room of the hospital. He said that as soon as the bell rings in the hospital’s labor room, the medical staff will be able to receive the baby immediately from the shelter and take care of him medically and personally.
