Jalandhar by-election results: AAP heading towards victory, Sushil Rinku ahead by 4.5 thousand votes

The counting of votes for the Jalandhar bypoll has begun. The counting of votes is being done at the counting center located in the premises of Director Land Records and Sports College, Kapurthala Road. It has started with the counting of ballot papers, in which even in the second round, AAP candidate Sushil Rinku is leading by four and a half thousand votes.

The lead of Aam Aadmi Party candidate Sushil Rinku is increasing continuously. Currently he is ahead of Congress by 5494 votes. There is a tough fight between AAP and Congress on this seat. So far AAP candidate Rinku got 27650 votes, Congress’s Karamjit Kaur 25672, Akali-BSP’s Dr. Sukhi 13285 and BJP’s Inder Iqbal Atwal 12102 votes.

  • You have got a lead of 1570 in the 6th round. Congress is still in second place.
  • In the fifth round, AAP is leading by 1961 votes. Congress retained the second position.
  • Your lead narrowed in the fourth round. AAP is ahead by 1861 votes. AAP’s Sushil Kumar got 17098 votes and INC’s Karamjit Kaur Chowdhary got 15237 votes.
  • In the third round, AAP is leading by 2776 votes. Congress grew in second place. Akali Dal in third place.
  • In the second round, AAP is leading by 2680 votes while Congress is on the second number. The Akali Dal is at the third position.
  • In the first round, AAP candidate Sushil Rinku was leading by 720 votes.

Earlier, after voting, all EVMs and VVPAT machines were kept in the strong room where three-wheeler security arrangements were made around them. Paramilitary personnel have been deployed along with the Punjab Police to ensure that there is no disturbance during the counting of votes.

 

There is a four-cornered contest on the Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat. In this, Sushil Rinku from Aam Aadmi Party, Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary from Congress, Inder Iqbal Singh Atwal from BJP and Dr. from Akali and BSP alliance. Sukhwinder Sukhi is included. Sushil Rinku has been an MLA from the Congress, AAP had given him a ticket by bringing him into the party. Congress’s Karamjit Kaur Chowdhary is the wife of Santokh Singh Chowdhary, who was elected MP from this seat twice. Inder Iqbal Atwali has been an MLA from Akali Dal, he was given ticket by BJP after joining the party. Akali candidate Sukhwinder Sukhi is Akali MLA from Banga. A total of 19 candidates have contested on this seat.
