Karachi : The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed former New Zealand cricketer Grant Bradburn as the head coach of the national men’s team for the next two years. The Pakistan Cricket Board gave the above information on Saturday. Bradburn had recently served as head coach on contract in the series against New Zealand.
Bradburn was also the fielding coach of Pakistan from 2018 to 2020. He also served as the head coach of the Scotland team.
The PCB also announced that former South African cricketer Andrew Puttick has been appointed as the batting coach of the men’s team. Putik will have a tenure of two years. Additionally, strength and conditioning coach Drickus Simon and physiotherapist Cliff Deacon will continue in their roles.
During Bradburn’s interim tenure as head coach, Pakistan drew the T20I series against New Zealand 2–2 and won the ODI series 4–1. The Babar Azam-led side also held the top spot in the ODI rankings during this period.
PCB Management Committee Chairman Najam Sethi said, “I am delighted to nominate Grant Bradburn as the head coach of our men’s side. Bradburn comes to us with a wealth of coaching experience. Having worked with our men’s side before and at the National Cricket Academy, he understands our culture and philosophy. He is the ideal candidate to take our team forward.”
Pakistan next has a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan as well as the Asia Cup. After this, the team also has to participate in the ODI World Cup 2023 to be played in India in October-November.
