There is a very popular phrase among the Indian public – leave half and run for the whole, don’t get the whole and lose half. This means that the person who leaves half of his happiness and runs to get the whole, sometimes even half is left out of his hands and he does not get the whole.
Most of the human beings keep running after those longings, desires, aspirations which are not possible to be fulfilled.
He who forsakes the fixed things and serves the fixed things of the heart.
its fixed objects are destroyed and its uncertain objects are destroyed
Meaning- The one who leaves the fixed and takes support of the uncertain, he also definitely gets destroyed. Uncertainty destroys itself.
Acharya Chanakya says that the thing which is certain to be achieved should be achieved first or the same work should be done first. By not doing so one rushes into uncertain tasks, the completion of which is doubtful, well prepared work also goes away and the thing to be achieved or the work to be done cannot be done.
Thus both his hands remain empty. Acharya points out that it is foolish to believe in uncertainty. He should be considered destroyed or that which is not stable is equivalent to destruction.
If we understand from example, many men leave their well-behaved, beautiful, sunayana wife and run after a stranger woman, respect their home, fulfill her wishes, take care of her comforts, which are not available. It is foolish to run after him.
Such a lustful man loses his wife also. That’s why whatever you get in life, learn to respect what God has given, learn to save it, life is meaningful only if you run after false happiness, nothing will be achieved.
