UP civic vote count: BJP’s Harikant Ahluwalia ahead in Meerut

Meerut : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Harikant Ahluwalia is leading in the counting of votes so far for the post of Municipal Corporation Mayor. On the other hand, there is no good news for Samajwad Party (SP) from Meerut. The AIMIM candidate has pushed the SP mayoral candidate to the third spot.

Asaduddin Owaisi’s party AIMIM was considered the weakest in the election campaign in the Meerut Municipal Corporation elections, but a day before the polling, Muslim voters turned around and voted in favor of MIMIM candidate Anas in large numbers. In the counting of votes released on Saturday, the AIMIM candidate has kept the contest tight. BJP’s Harikant Ahluwalia has got 12126 votes in the counting of votes so far. He is walking ahead. Anas of AIMIM is in second place by getting 5901 votes. So SP’s candidate Seema Pradhan is running at the third position by getting 5291 votes. BSP candidate Hashmat Malik has got 3252 votes so far. While Muslims distanced themselves from Congress candidate Naseem Qureshi. He has got only 614 votes so far. Election results of many wards of Municipal Corporation have been declared.

BJP’s Vrikant Dhaka won from Ward 57 Pallavapuram of Meerut Municipal Corporation by 1515 votes. Pradeep Verma of RLD won from Ward 27. Independent Krishna Vaid won from Ward 23. BJP’s Babita Khanna has won the election from Ward 21. SP’s Asgari has won from Ward 22. Naresh Saini of BSP has won the election from ward seven. Fazle Karim of AIMIM has won the election from Ward 71. BJP’s Anuj Vashishtha won the election from Ward 63. BJP’s Poonam Gupta won the election from Ward 35. Pawan Chaudhary from Ward 29, Sarika Ranjan Sharma from Ward 45, Rajendra Upadhyay from Ward 51, Pankaj Goyal from Ward 59, Reshma Sonkar from Ward 9, Tulsi Bati from Ward 1 have won the election. Counting is on in other wards.
