4th season of Ultimate Table Tennis from 13th July in Pune

New Delhi : The fourth season of Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) will be held from July 13 to 30 at the Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune.

The fourth season will see big players like top table tennis players Kadri Aruna, Achanta Sharath Kamal, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Manika Batra showcasing their skills.

One of Africa’s greatest table tennis players, Aruna, currently ranked 12th in the world and having played the first two seasons of UTT, is returning to India for the third time.

Besides Aruna, World No. 32 Benedict Duda of Germany, World No. 34 Omar Assar of Egypt, Spain’s Alvaro Robles, who won doubles silver at the 2019 World Championships, will also be part of Season 4.

Lily Zhang of USA (world ranking 24), Yangzi Liu of Australia (world ranking 32), Thailand’s Suthasini Sawetabut (world ranking 33) and Slovakia’s Barbora Balazova (world ranking 44) will be the international women players in the draft pool.

Indian players include veteran paddlers Sharath Kamal, who holds a record 10 national titles, Sathiyan who is currently India’s top ranked male player, and Manika Batra along with some promising young talents S. Sreeja Akula, who recently won back-to-back titles. Having won the national title, the Under-19 boys will take on national title holders Payas Jain, Diya Chitale, S Fidel R Snehit and Ankur Bhattacharya two-handed.

Six teams namely Bengaluru Smashers, Chennai Lions, Dabang Delhi, Goa Challengers, Puneri Paltan and U Mumba will participate in the upcoming season.

After picking their coaches in the recent UTT Season 4 Coach Draft, each franchise will now look to field a strong six-member squad for the UTT Season 4 Player Draft to be held in Mumbai next month.

From a pool of 40 available players, each team can choose two foreigners – one male and one female and four Indians – two males and two females. Each team has the right to retain one player from the previous season.
