The political crisis in Pakistan is not taking its name. Once again the sword of arrest hangs over former Prime Minister Imran Khan. A large number of police are stationed outside his house in Zaman Park, Lahore. Soon his house is also being searched.
Lahore Police has got a search warrant. Imran Khan is accused of hiding 40 terrorists in his house. Police can reach Imran Khan’s house anytime to search for these terrorists. According to Pakistani media reports, 400 police personnel will conduct a search operation at Imran Khan’s house.
It is feared that Imran Khan may be arrested once again during the search. Due to the arrival of such a large number of police personnel, speculations are being made in this regard. In fact, Imran Khan’s supporters are accused of attacking Jinnah House on May 9, where the Corps Commander of the Pakistan Army resides. After this attack, Imran Khan is surrounded and accused of insulting the army. At present, Imran Khan has also condemned the incident of attack, but he is being continuously targeted.
Meanwhile, there is news that action may be taken against Imran Khan and his supporters under the Army Act. Under this act, there is a provision of imprisonment from two years to life and death penalty. At present, the news of relief for Imran Khan is that the Anti-Terrorism Court of Lahore has granted him anticipatory bail till June 2 in three cases including the attack on Jinnah House on May 9.
However, the Lahore Police has arrested 8 people in connection with the violence that took place on 9 May. Police say that these people were hiding near Imran Khan’s house and were caught while running.
Ever since the news of Army Act being imposed on Imran Khan and his supporters, there is an atmosphere of fear among the former Prime Minister and his supporters. This is because it has very strict provisions and once a case is registered, it is difficult to escape. Under this, there is a provision of two years to life imprisonment and death sentence. Under this act that came in 1952, its action is only on those who are in the army. But action can also be taken against such citizens, who have attacked the institutions related to the army. The incident of May 9 is being told in its ambit.
The Army Act is so strict that in the court where the case is heard under it, the judge is an army officer. Apart from this, there are army officers who take sides as lawyers. In 1966, during Ayub Khan’s regime, it was decided to extend the Act to citizens. Under this, if any citizen or organization attacks the institutions related to the army, then this act will be imposed. These cases are also heard in the army court only. That’s why there is a fear about them because the influence of the army is found there.
