2000 rupee note: The Reserve Bank on Friday (May 19) took a major decision to withdraw Rs 2,000 notes from circulation. According to a statement, these notes will be valid till September 30. After this decision of the bank, the Congress has targeted the Modi government. Senior leader Jairam Ramesh said that our self-styled Vishwaguru does first, thinks later. He said that after the disastrous Tughlaq order of November 8, 2016, Rs 2000 notes which were introduced with much fanfare are now being withdrawn.

Congress leader Pawan Kheda said that the ghost of November 8, 2016 has once again dominated the country. The much publicized move of demonetisation has turned out to be a major disaster for the country. PM Modi preached to the country on the benefits of new 2000 notes, what happened to all those promises when the printing is stopped today?

The government should clarify its intention behind such a move. The government is continuing its anti-people and anti-poor agenda. Hopefully the media will question the government on such drastic measures and not blame the ‘chip shortage’ on the world.

Aam Aadmi Party leader Saurabh Bhardwaj said that after demonetisation in 2016, people lost their jobs, died and the economy suffered. The government which claimed in 2016 that black money and corruption would end, but it did not happen. I hope this time the decision has been taken on the basis of expert opinion.

Let us tell you that according to the Reserve Bank of India, from May 23 to September 30, you will be able to exchange Rs 2,000 notes in 19 branches of banks and RBI. From May 23, 2023, Rs 2000 notes can be exchanged up to a limit of Rs 20000. Announcing demonetisation in November 2016, the government closed 500 and 1000 notes and introduced 2000 thousand rupee notes.

A special window to exchange notes at the bank

As per RBI guidelines, banks will have a separate special window to exchange Rs 2000 notes. Where you can easily change 2000 note. According to an estimate, 3 lakh 62 thousand crore 2000 notes are currently in circulation. Now it has to be seen how many notes come back in the bank.
