184 Gujarati fishermen released from Pakistan jail returned

Minister Raghavjibhai Patel welcomed the farmers of Jindadil Sagar who came from Wagah border to Vadodara on their return home. These fishermen, who spent the important period of Corona in the jail of Pakistan, were sent to their hometown by bus.

He reached Vadodara from Wagah border this morning after freeing a group of Indian fishermen imprisoned in Pakistan. Returning to Gujarat after a period of four years, these fishermen breathed in the fragrance of the motherland. After this group reached Vadodara by train, leaders including Minister Raghavjibhai Patel welcomed them with thunderous applause. These fishermen have gone through the critical stages of Corona in Pakistani jails.

Marine farmers are caught by Pakistan while fishing in Indian waters in the Arabian Sea and are prosecuted and jailed as per the law there. Most of the fishermen caught in Indian waters are kept in Latti Jail near Karachi. Apart from Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel and Agriculture Minister Raghavjibhai Patel, Union Minister of State Purushottambhai Rupala is in constant touch with the Central Government for the release of Gujarati fishermen imprisoned in Pakistan.

As a result of the above efforts of the Gujarat government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s diplomatic efforts to free the Indian fishermen imprisoned in Pakistan succeeded and the Pakistani authorities decided to release 198 Indian fishermen.

The released fishermen include 184 from Gujarat, 3 from Andhra Pradesh, 4 from Diwan, 5 from Maharashtra and 2 from Uttar Pradesh. 184 from Gujarat, 152 from Gir Somnath district, 22 from Devbhoomi Dwarka, one each from Jamnagar, Junagadh, Kutch, Valsad and Navsari, five from Porbandar have been released from Pakistani jails.

Inspections are generally carried out for the purpose of protecting fishermen. When Indian fishermen are caught by a neighboring country, details of boatmen are obtained by the fishing industry. First, Indian boats seized by foreign agencies are deregistered.

 

Registration of this boat is important as it establishes its identity and subsidized diesel is provided by the state government. Also, 50 thousand rupees were given to Sagarkhedu’s family after he was caught. 300 articles are provided daily. The Gujarat government has kept Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel’s leadership very sensitive.

After establishing the identity of the caught fishermen by the State Government, the list is sent to the Ministry of External Affairs by the Department of Fisheries. Based on which it is verified by the embassy. Now, these fishermen have been re-verified on crossing the Wagah border. Not only this, their health is also checked. Later transport arrangements have been made for him.

Now the freed fishermen reached Vadodara by train from Amritsar. Two compartments were specially kept for them. Besides Minister Raghavjibhai Patel, MLA Keurbhai Rokdia, Chaitanyabhai Desai, Chief Dr. Vijaybhai Shah, Collector Atul Gor, Fisheries Commissioner Nitin Sangwan, Additional Police Commissioner Manoj Ninama welcomed the fishermen. The minister thanked the central government.

The released sea farmers thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Later they were sent to Girsomanath in four private buses after breakfast.
