11th Basketball Intramural Match organized at GDC Kathua

Kathua, May 20 (Hindustan Times). Respected Principal of Degree College Kathua Prof. XI Intramural was organized by the Department of Physical Education GDC Kathua under the able and creative guidance of Seema Mir in the sport discipline of Basketball.

As a sequel to the G20 and Fit India movement of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and the Play Green initiative of the Department of Physical Education, the aim of organizing intramurals was to provide opportunities to students who are physically weak. The intramural was inaugurated by senior faculty members along with the Chief Guest of Fit Intramural Match Rajinder Singh (Babbi) Chairman, Municipal Corporation Kathua and Patron of Today’s Basketball Intramural Match Professor Seema Mir, Principal GDC Kathua. Acharya Seema Mir welcomed the chief guest with a bouquet of flowers.

The Honorable Acharya also gave a formal welcome address to the Chief Guest. The Chief Guest in his address motivated the students to actively participate in sports. He also congratulated the Principal for taking the college to new heights. The worthy Principal in his address through the Department of Physical Education with its Physical Director Dr. J.S. Highly appreciated the efforts to motivate students to participate in sports activities under the supervision of Sudan. The first match in men’s section was between Science Department and Commerce Department, in which Science Department won by 7 points. The second match was between NCC Boys and B Com II Semester in which B Com II Boys won the match by 4 points.

The third match was held between B.Com 2nd and B.Com 6th semester in which B.Com 6th won by 7 points and entered the final. The fourth match was held between Arts students and Science students, in which the Arts boys won the match by 03 points and booked the seat for the finals of B.Com 6th semester. In the men’s section, the final was held between Arts Boys and B.Com Boys in which Commerce won the trophy by 01 points and in the women’s section, Physical Education Girls were defeated by NCC Girls by 09 points. The matches were managed by Udhayveer Singh and the official basketball team of GDC Kathua and coordinated by the distinguished players of GDC Kathua Akriti Dhanwal, Mamta Sharma, Bharti Sharma, Riya Jasrotia, Tania Bhadwal and Anmol Sharma. The runners up and winner trophies were distributed by Principal GDC Kathua Professor Seema Mir.
