Varanasi: Section 144 will be applicable on Ganga Ghats on Holi festival, ban on boat operation also

Varanasi: Section 144 will be applicable from 12 noon to night on Ganga Ghats on March 29 on Holi, the festival of colors. During this time, it has been instructed to ban the operation of all types of boats in the river Ganga.
District Magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma said that on the festival, no person will bathe in the ghats of the river Ganges by applying soap nor wash their clothes with chemical substances like soap, surf etc. No person shall conduct antisocial acts or illegal activity by operating boats, barges, nor shall he or any person with any type of antisocial activity be escorted to his or her home.
He said that after the Holi of colors ends on the festival, the youth go to bathe in the river Ganges. Any accidental accident during bathing cannot be ruled out. Section 144 has been imposed on losses in view of circumstances. He said that disregard of restrictions would be a punishable offense.
