Those who do MBBS from UP are in luck, Health Ministry has given recognition to 5 new medical colleges; seats have increased by this many

Lucknow: The Yogi government is making a lot of efforts to fulfill the resolution of One District, One Medical College. Through this effort, in the second appeal of the government, the Union Health Ministry has approved 5 more new medical colleges in the state. Now MBBS studies will start here soon, while the seats in medical colleges in Kanpur Dehat and Lalitpur have been increased from 50 to 100.

Medical colleges of these 5 districts got recognition.

DGME Kinjal Singh said that the department had again appealed to the Union Health Ministry for permission to admit on 100 MBBS seats in autonomous state medical colleges of 5 districts of the state, Auraiya, Chandauli, Gonda, Lakhimpur Kheri and Kaushambi and permission to admit on 100-100 MBBS course seats instead of 50-50 seats in Kanpur Dehat, Lalitpur. In this sequence, permission has been given for admission to 100-100 MBBS seats in all these medical colleges.

An appeal was made twice.

DGME further said that under Section 28 (6) of the NMC Act 2019, if the LOP is not granted by the NMC even after the first appeal, then a fresh appeal can be made within 30 days under the said section. A fresh appeal was made under this rule.

1200 new MBBS seats

Now 600 more MBBS seats have increased in the state. Due to this, the number of new seats for the current academic session 2024-25 MBBS course has become 1200. Let us tell you that earlier 7 new medical colleges of the state were recognized. Which 5 medical colleges got MBBS recognition for 100-100 MBBS seats and Kanpur Dehat and Lalitpur Medical College got MBBS recognition for 50-50 seats.

Increase in seats in the state.

Let us tell you that CM Yogi had also talked to Union Health Minister JP Nadda regarding this, after which the Principal of the college appealed to NMC for recognition. In the first appeal, 7 medical colleges of the state were recognized. With this, the total number of MBBS seats in the state has now become 11200. These include 5150 MBBS seats in government medical colleges and 6050 MBBS seats in private medical colleges.

Earlier, an appeal was made to NMC for admission on 100-100 MBBS seats of autonomous state medical colleges of Bijnor, Bulandshahr, Kushinagar, Pilibhit, Kanpur Dehat, Lalitpur and Sultanpur. In such a situation, NMC had allowed admission on 100-100 MBBS seats here, while permission was given for admission only on 50-50 MBBS seats of autonomous state medical colleges of Kanpur Dehat and Lalitpur.
