Former Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan. He had predicted 800 wickets before his last Test match, which proved to be true even after talking. He had announced that he would play his last Test match against India in Gaul and before this match, he was 8 wickets away from completing his 800 wickets.
Sri Lankan selectors and Kumar Sangakkara wanted Muralitharan to keep playing until he had completed his 800 wickets, but Muralitharan made it clear in the meeting that he would take 8 wickets in the Gaul Test itself and that he later said I was proved to be true
During a conversation with Ravichandran Ashwin, Kumar Sangakkara said, “He was 8 wickets away from his 800 wicket record.” He then told me that he wanted to retire after the first Test of the upcoming India-Sri Lanka series. Then I called a meeting with the selectors. In this, we decided that they should play until they take 800 wickets. ”
Kumar Sangakkara further said, “After this Muttiah Muralitharan said what everyone said in the meeting. Muralitharan said- “I will say one thing, it will not work with me.” I am one of the best spinner bowlers in the world and I like challenges. This will be my last test and I will take 8 wickets in it. Even if it does not happen then I will take retirement. If that happens, we will surely win this Test match as well. ”
