This city is green and very quiet. It was established in 1958. It comes under the National Radio Quiet Zone (NRQZ) of America. The area of this city is up to 33 thousand square kilometers. The purpose of the National Radio Quiet Zone was to make it radio frequency-free. No facilities like WiFi, internet, mobile, or microwave are provided here. Because all these are devices that generate electromagnetic waves. Therefore, all these are banned here.
Research facility for scientists
Research facilities are available for scientists in this city. The Green Bank Telescope (GBT) located here can detect even the weakest radio waves coming from space. There is a ban on any kind of wave-producing equipment here. So that there is no hindrance to scientific research. It is also called the Observatory Area. Such arrangements are necessary to observe important events happening in space, to find out the mysteries of the universe, and to detect gravitational waves.
