Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs has once again clarified the status of the Night Curfew in Unlock – 1 (Unlock 1.0) from 9 am to 5 am. On Friday, the Ministry of Home Affairs said that no restrictions will be imposed on the vehicles plying on the highway. At the same time, before this, the Home Ministry had issued an order that barring essential services, other people should be prevented from going out of their homes.
Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla told in a media interaction that, the government has given relaxation in unlocking 1.0 to those walking on the highway. Under the night curfew, the government had earlier exempted people from 9 am to 5 am only for essential services. He further said that now this exemption is for all the vehicles running on the highway. He further explained that in Unlock 1.0 some states are also stopping people from passing through the highway, buses and freight trucks in the night curfew, now they do not have to do so.
The Home Ministry has said that the imposition of curfew from 9 is to 5 am did not mean that the movement of common people should be banned. This was only so that crowds of people could not gather in one place and social distancing would remain among the people during the lockdown. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, this rule does not apply to buses and trucks running on the highway. Let us tell you that this is not the first time that the Central Government has issued guidelines to the states for bringing essential goods. Earlier, the Central Government had stopped the vehicles of goods being sent to Bangladesh by the West Bengal government, when such orders were issued.
