Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Rudrakash Convention Center in Sigra area of his parliamentary constituency Varanasi today, in collaboration with PM Japan. A senior official of Varanasi Municipal Corporation has given this information. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Varanasi International Cooperation and Convention Center on Thursday with the help of Japan. VICCC has been named as Rudraksh because of Varanasi being considered the city of Lord Shiva.
The Rudraksh Convention Center has been decorated keeping in mind both Japanese and Indian cultures (Indo-Japan Friendship Symbol). Apart from lights and different types of flowers, bamboo, pebbles, small bonsai trees, mats, lanterns, ceramic pots, rice paper and straw have also been used for the decoration of the center. More than a ton of marigold flowers have also been used in the decoration of this center.
Inauguration of Rudraksh Convention Center
Let us tell you that in December 2015, when Japan’s PM Shinzo Abe reached Varanasi, he had given the VICCC project there as a gift. To build this, the Japan International Corporation Agency has given a fund of about 186 crores. Also, the contract to build this convention center was given to the Japanese company Fujita Corporation.
According to officials, 108 Rudraksha have been installed in this convention center. Also, its roof has been made in the shape of Shiva Linga. He said that during the night time this building would be lit with LED lights. The Do Mandila Convention Center has been built on 2.87 hectares of land in the posh Sigra area of Varanasi. The Rudraksh Convention Center has a seating capacity of 1,200 people.
Tourism will get a boost in Varanasi
Officials say that the Rudraksh Convention Center will give a further boost to tourism in Varanasi. Its gallery showcases the art, culture and music of Varanasi. Japan’s Ambassador Suzuki Satoshi, his wife Chikaga Suzuki, Counselor Kiyos Kazuhiro, Secretary Oda Akari and a three-member JICA team will also be present at the inauguration of the Rudraksh Convention Center.
In September 2017, PM Narendra Modi had named the Varanasi Convention Center as Rudraksh during the India-Japan Annual Summit in Ahmedabad. Its design was also launched during the same time. PM Modi had said that Rudraksha is a symbol of love, and Lord Shiva’s offering to humanity. That is why it is named Rudraksh. This Rudraksh Convention Center will be the garland of Japan’s love for Varanasi. It will also be a tribute to our shared Buddhist heritage in Sarnath.
