Lucknow. Expressed grief over the demise of Kalyan Singh, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and former Governor of Rajasthan. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Kalyan Singh was unwell for two months. He breathed his last tonight at 9.15 pm. We are all sad. I wish peace for the departed soul. There is three days of mourning in the state. Yogi Adityanath further said that his last rites will be performed on the banks of the Ganges in Narora on 23rd. August 23 will be declared a public holiday within the state so that everyone can pay their respects.
The last rites of Kalyan Singh, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and former Governor of Rajasthan, will be performed on August 23 on the banks of the Ganges in Narula. Condoling the death of Kalyan Singh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has declared three days of state mourning in Uttar Pradesh. He has also announced one day public holiday in the state on 23rd August. CM Yogi Adityanath told reporters outside the Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, “There is sad news for all of us, former Chief Minister of the state, former Governor of Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh and senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party, Kalyan Singh ji is no more with us. Kalyan Singh ji was unwell for the last two months, he breathed his last tonight at 9.15 pm.
He said, “We are all saddened that the ideals set by Kalyan Singh during his tenure as Chief Minister and a mass leader in the governance of Uttar Pradesh, towards integrity, firmness and values, remain the standard even today.” Yogi Adityanath said, “He was the leading leader of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir movement. He had no hesitation in relinquishing power if the need arises for the construction of a grand Ram temple at the holy place of Maryada Purushottam Lord Shri Ram. On 6 December 1992, he resigned from the post of Chief Minister immediately after leaving power after the disputed structure collapsed and taking moral responsibility for this. The passing of Kalyan Singh ji is an irreparable loss not only to the society and Indian politics but also to the Bharatiya Janata Party. I pray for the peace of the departed soul.”
The Chief Minister said, “We will have a cabinet meeting tonight or tomorrow (Sunday) morning itself. With the passing of the condolence resolution, along with paying tribute to Kalyan Singh ji’s contribution to the state, to the country, to Indian politics, along with three days of state mourning in the state, on the banks of Narola Ganga on Monday. The funeral will be held. August 23 will be declared a public holiday in the state, so that every person can pay homage to their late leader.
Yogi said, “We are reaching his residence (Lucknow) with the body. On Sunday morning, people will be able to pay homage to him at the residence, then at the Vidhan Bhavan and then at the party office. How will his body be taken to Aligarh from here on Sunday evening. On Monday, the public will be able to have his last darshan at his Karmabhoomi, Janmabhoomi Atrauli. After that the last rites will be performed with full state honors at Narola.
Significantly, 89-year-old Kalyan Singh was admitted to the ICU of SGPGI on July 4 last due to infection and mild unconsciousness. Earlier, he was being treated at Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute. In a statement issued by the Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) on Saturday night, it was told that former Chief Minister Kalyan Singh passed away after prolonged illness. He was admitted to the intensive care unit on 4 July. He died on Saturday night due to prolonged illness and gradual non-functioning of body parts.
