Bharatiya Janata Party leader Anil Baluni has said that a senior Congress leader will join the saffron party today. Sources told India TV that the leader had served as a minister in the Manmohan Singh-led UPA government.
Sources said that the said Congress leader was among the ‘G23’ that demanded an overhaul of the Congress following the drubbing in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Sources added that the leader belongs to the Brahmin caste and hails from Uttar Pradesh. He will join the saffron party in the presence of BJP national president JP Nadda and Union Minister Piyush Goyal in Delhi.
Speculations are rife that it could be Jitin Prasada who is at odds with the Congress leadership. Prasada is a Brahmin and served in the UPA-II government. He hails from Shahjahanpur.
