Local residents will be accountable on forest fire incidents

Hamirpur: Taking strict cognizance of forest fire incidents, District Collector Devasweta Banik has issued an order fixing the accountability of local residents to protect forests and other public properties.
Devasweta Banik said that due to the fire there is a huge loss of forest wealth and other public properties in the district. There is a lack of sensitivity among most of the local residents towards their defense. In such circumstances special order has been issued under Section-3 of Himachal Pradesh Village and Small Town Patrol Act-1964 in District Hamirpur.
According to the order, all the men of the village will be accountable for protecting and monitoring forests and other public properties in every village of the district. The Collector told that this order will remain in force for the next six months.
