The double-header clash between four teams – Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, and Rajasthan Royals – saw a new chapter on Tuesday as KKR and MI clinched crucial wins in their respective matches in IPL 2021. The Eoin Morgan-led side took three wickets over Delhi Capitals to take their fourth spot in the IPL 2021 points table, while Mumbai Indians moved up from seventh to fifth after thrashing Punjab Kings by six wickets.
Both KKR and MI now have 10 points from 11 matches but KKR is at number four due to their better run rate.
The loss to KKR did not hurt DC that much, and the team still remains in second place. The third-placed RCB has 12 points. PBKS now has 8 points with only three matches left. The team is in sixth place.
Here is what the IPL 2021 points table looks like after the wins of KKR and MI.
Delhi Capitals opener Shikhar Dhawan has overtaken Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson to take the top spot. Dhawan scored only 24 runs but that was enough for him to take a 21-run lead over Samson, who scored 433 runs in 11 matches. PBKS captain KL Rahul is in the third position with 422 runs.
Mohammed Shami is back in the top five in the list of highest wicket-takers for the Purple Cap. PBKS’s Mohammed Shami is at number four with 14 wickets, while DC’s Avesh consolidated his position at number 2 after Harshal Patel, who tops the list with 23 wickets.
