IPL 2021, CSK vs MI, LIVE Score: Hello and welcome to the Live coverage of the 30th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 where Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Dubai International Stadium.

Mumbai Indians’ pace duo of Adam Milne and Trent Boult scripted Chennai’s top-order collapse in Dubai as both picked two wickets each for 11 runs in three overs. Boult dismissed Faf du Plessis for a duck in the very first over before Milne removed Moeen Ali in the next over for a duck as well. CSK suffered another blow as Ambati Rayudu walked off the field with a wrist injury before Boult struck again to dismiss Suresh Raina for four. Captain MS Dhoni was the fourth batsman to depart as wounded Chennai finished with just 24 runs at the end of the powerplay.

Chennai Super Kings win the toss and elect to bat first

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have won the toss and elected to bat first against Mumbai Indians (MI), who are without two big names — Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya.

CSK are also without all-rounder Sam Curran. Skipper MS Dhoni said that the three-time champions will try to get the basics right and focus on the process. “Setting a target will be a better option. It’s the same for everyone. I can’t say if it’s a good break or not. Once tournament starts, you get into some sort of rhythm but this season it’s new and maybe us cricketers will start loving it,” he said at the toss.

MI leader Kieron Pollard assured fans that Rohit will be “fine sooner than later” as he confirmed that the regular skipper and all-rounder Hardik Pandya will miss the game. MI have also handed a debut to Anmolpreet Singh.

Mumbai Indians (Playing XI): Quinton de Kock, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan(w), Anmolpreet Singh, Kieron Pollard(c), Saurabh Tiwary, Krunal Pandya, Adam Milne, Rahul Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult

Chennai Super Kings (Playing XI): Faf du Plessis, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Moeen Ali, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni(w/c), Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Josh Hazlewood

The 14th season of the league was brought to an abrupt halt back in May owing to COVID-19 fears in India, but after the break of four and a half months, IPL is back, and this time in the UAE along with the fans. [How to watch Live: CSK vs MI]

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are presently second in the points table with five wins in seven matches while Mumbai Indians (MI) stand fourth with four wins. The last time the two teams faced each other was at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in May where Kieron Pollard’s impressive 34-ball 87* guided the five-time champions to a four-wicket win.

Talking about the Head to Head record, Mumbai Indians (MI) have a 19-12 advantage over the Chennai-based outfit. Mumbai have a 3-5 record in Dubai in eight games and all three of their wins came in the 2020 season where they played five matches at the venue.

IPL 2021 CSK vs MI Preview: Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the two most successful Indian Premier League franchises (in terms of titles won), will clash in the first match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021’s second leg in Dubai on Sunday. Roughly three months after the first leg was suspended due to breach in the bio-secure bubble, the season returns to much fanfare — quite literally — as spectators will return to the stadium for the first time in IPL since 2019.

In a blockbuster resumption, the second-placed Chennai Super Kings will eye displacing Delhi Capitals at the top of the table, while Mumbai Indians will eye more consistency and aim for a repeat of their previous season in the UAE when they lifted the title. [READ FULL PREVIEW]
