Bhavinaben Patel created history in Tokyo Paralympics. She has given India the first medal in the Class-4 category in the Women’s Singles of Table Tennis. In the final, Bhavina was up against world number-1 Chinese player Zhou Ying. Ying defeated Bhavina 11-7, 11-5 and 11-6 to win the gold. Bhavina got silver. She is also the Indian player to win a medal in Table Tennis.
Earlier, Bhavina had defeated Zhang Miao of China 7-11, 11-7, 11-4, 9-11, 11-8 in the semi-finals. Bhavina reached the semi-finals after defeating Serbia’s Borislava Rankovi Perich in three consecutive games 11-5, 11-6, 11-7.
Bhavinaben Patel defeated Brazil’s Joyce de Oliveira 12-10, 13-11, 11-6 in the pre-quarterfinals. She has become the first Indian player to secure a table tennis medal in the Paralympics.
I was one year old, then I was paralyzed

What is a class-4 category?
Athlete of class IV category maintains proper sitting balance and has fine hands. Their disability may be due to lower spine problems or they may suffer from cerebral palsy. Athletes from classes 1 to 5 of Para Table Tennis play in a wheelchair. Athletes in classes 6 to 10 can play standing.
At the same time, there is a mental problem in class 11 athletes. The smaller the number of classes in the wheelchair standing position, the more their physical ability is affected. That is, the physical ability of the class-1 athlete is affected the most.
