It was told by the ED that Lakdawala was arrested under the sections of money laundering law and later produced in a local court. The court remanded the accused to ED custody till June 2.
Fake documents of property worth 50 crores
An FIR was lodged against the 76-year-old Lakdawala and others in 2019 by the Economic Offenses Wing of the Mumbai Police in connection with the fabrication and fraud of fake documents worth Rs 50 crore worth of land in Khandala under Maval tehsil of Pune district. Has registered a case.
How the matter came to light
The above 4.4 acres of land is said to belong to the family of the then Nawab Jung Bahadur of Hyderabad. Police investigation revealed that Lakdawala allegedly got fake documents of this land in association with some government officials and others, stating that the land was purchased by Lakdawala’s father in 1949 and later gifted to him.

The ED said in its statement that during the investigation, it was found that Lakdawala had created many fake companies. The agency said, “It was known from the bank accounts of these companies that it was not doing any profit business, yet crores of rupees were transacted by these shell companies.”
