England all-rounder Sam Curran has been ruled out of the upcoming T20 World Cup due to injury. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) gave this information. The board said- Karan had complained of back pain during the IPL match of Chennai Super Kings against Rajasthan Royals.
The ECB said in the statement – The injury has been detected after the report of the scan. He will be flying back to the UK in the next few days and will have further scans and a full review from the ECB’s medical team later this week.
Tom Curran will replace him
England and Wales Cricket Board has made his brother Tom Curran a part of the World Cup team instead of Sam Curran. Tom has played a total of 30 T20I matches so far and has managed to take 29 wickets at an average of 31.27.
Will not be able to play in IPL also
Sam Curran will not be able to play for Chennai Super Kings in the remaining matches of IPL Phase-2 due to injury. A really big setback for CSK ahead of the playoffs.
The England team has won the tournament once so far only once has been successful in winning the T20 World Cup. The team won the T20 World Cup trophy in 2010 by defeating Australia by 7 wickets under the captaincy of Paul Collingwood. When the T20 World Cup was played for the last time in 2016, the team was still successful in making it to the final.
