Birthday Special: These records are registered in the name of former Indian fast bowler Javagal Srinath

Today is the birthday of former Indian fast bowler Javagal Srinath. Javagal Srinath, popularly known as Mysore Express in the world, was born on this day i.e. on 31st August 1969 in Karnataka.

Srinath holds the Indian record for playing the most number of World Cups as a bowler. He has played in the World Cup of One Day Cricket in the years 1992, 1996, 1999, and 2003. He has taken 44 wickets in 34 matches for Team India in the World Cup.

He is the second-highest wicket-taker for India in ODI cricket. He has taken a total of 315 wickets in 229 matches of ODIs.

In this case, Anil Kumble is in the first place, who has taken 337 wickets in 271 matches. Srinath has taken 551 wickets in international cricket.

Javagal Srinath’s journey in international cricket started in the year 1991. In his very first match against Pakistan in October, Srinath took 1 for 31 in 9 overs. India won this match by a huge margin of 60 runs.
