Today is the 88th birthday of Bollywood’s legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle. She has made some revelations about her planning related to the birthday celebration. In which she says that I like to celebrate with family more. This year I will be staying in Lonavala with my daughter-in-law and granddaughter.
Once celebrated my birthday
Asha says, “I haven’t celebrated my birthday for many years. There is a simple atmosphere in the house, and the children cut the cake. There was no party or anything. Birthday is not a special day for me. We would have grown old that day. This is what children celebrate,” says Bhosale, “I once celebrated my birthday when I was 75 years old. We invited every singer I have worked with and shared a close bond with them. After that, I told my family not to throw the party.
Time spent in the studio
Sharing her memories, she says, “Earlier, I used to spend my birthday in the recording studio. I remember many people from the industry including Shankar-Jaikishan and RD Burman used to keep a recording on my birthday, then they used to play dhol, tashe, tabla together.
Spoke on retirement
The songs Chura Liya Hai, Piya Tu Ab To Aa Jaa, and Dum Maro Dum are being listened to continuously for almost eight decades and Asha Ji is known for her passion for work, which remains intact even in this age. Even today, she practices classical during the day. About professional singing, she says, I only want to sing really good songs.
When asked the question of retirement, she says, “Just before Pandemic, I did three live shows, many of my shows got canceled due to Covid-19. Pandemic made the whole world sit at home. I am just waiting for things to normalize so that I can resume my live shows.
