Buy train tickets in these countries now on Google Search
SAN FRANCISCO: Google has announced a new feature that will allow users to buy train tickets in select countries in search, which will soon be available in more countries.
Users in Germany, Spain, Italy and Japan can now shop for train tickets directly on Google Search for travel in and around select countries.
Google said that it has incorporated the fixture into its travel equipment.
“For some trips, taking the train may be a more sustainable option, but getting from A to B may take a bit of a different search to find prices and schedules,” said Richard Holden, VP of Travel Products at Google.
“Starting today, you can shop for train tickets directly on Google Search, for travel in and around select countries, including Germany, Spain, Italy and Japan,” he noted in a blog post late Tuesday.
Just do a query like “Berlin to Vienna trains” and you’ll see a new module in the search results that lets you choose your departure date and compare the available options.
Once you have selected the train that works best, there is a direct link on the partner’s website to complete your booking.
Holden said, “As we work with other rail providers, this facility will expand to more locations. We plan to start testing a similar feature for bus tickets in the near future to broaden your options for intercity travel.”
Plus, with new filters for both flights and hotels, it’s easier to find more permanent options on Google Search, he said.
